Cockwells

27/01/12 Media release for Cockwells boat sale successes

Client: Cockwells
Our solution: Securing media coverage

The 2012 Tullett Prebon London Boat Show proved a major success for boatbuilder Cockwells with the sale of two Duchy 27 motor launches valued in excess of £300,000. Naturally, managing director Dave Cockwell was keen to shout about it.

Eight Wire's PR team identified that the success represented a shot in the arm for Cornwall's leisure boat industry as it emerges from the recession with Cockwells taking on two new shipwrights as a result of the sales.

The editor of the Western Morning News agreed, sending a photographer along to Cockwells to capture a unique image for its prominent coverage of the story. Business Cornwall magazine and the Falmouth Packet also featured the news – the latter running it as its main Business page story.

A variety of online media also picked up the story, adding to the positive publicity for the Mylor Creek-based boatbuilder.

Eight Wire developed the Duchy 27 launch campaign in 2011.

Collaborate

23/01/12 External PR for the Collaborate Cornwall Conference

Client: Partner to Succeed by YTKO
Our solution: Media relations and user engagement

Eight Wire's in-house writing team and social media experts spent three months promoting the Collaborate Cornwall event through traditional and new media platforms including regional publications, radio interviews and a social media campaign.

As well as facilitating a live tweet desk during the event, we introduced some touches that would improve engagement such as cookies with the event's twitter tag iced-on. Eight Wire managed the photography (Toby Weller) and podcast (Kernowpods) teams and provided design and print for additional conference collateral.

As the publicity campaign swung into action the conference team soon reached the goal of 150 delegate registrations and then raised it to 200 – a target that was also achieved.

Our solution: Design and management of HTML email template

eight wire's birthday

01/09/11 Time to celebrate, Eight Wire is seven

Eight Wire is proud to be marking the completion of its seventh year of marketing businesses in Cornwall and beyond.

In the last seven years we've serviced the needs of more than 500 clients who have commissioned all manner of work from brochures and business cards to branding and public relations. We've also been commissioned to design, write and build more than 120 websites.

We've lost count of the PR column inches we've won, the tweets we've sent, the visitors we've converted, the posts and blogs we've updated, the inbound links we've assured. However, we can tell you that these strategies have proven themselves worthwhile and cost-effective time and again.

Likewise, there's no record of the litres of midnight oil we've burned, the vats of tea we've drunk, the Spotify cul-de-sacs we've dug our way out of and amazing cupcakes from Susan we've munched our way through.

People close to the day-to-day of Eight Wire will have spotted that we're currently in the process of building the team by two people that will take us upto a team of six of us beavering away on the wharf to make other people's businesses work better.

We look to welcoming our new team members and we want to thank all of our clients, new and old, established and startup. We often find ourselves in your company when you're going through exciting, or otherwise challenging, times in your business development. Thanks for being with us for the ride so far, we very much hope you'll continue to choose us to look after your needs in the future.

For the second year running, Eight Wire has co-ordinated the production of the annual accommodation guides for Falmouth and the Roseland. Both glossy brochures serve as comprehensive handbooks for visitors to each area, featuring only hotels, guestshouses, bed & breakfasts and self catering accommodation quality assessed by either Visit Britain or the AA.

We sourced and laid out all content for over 150 listings for both guides before confirming proofs with each individual accommodation owner. Our smooth running of the project ensured that both guides went to print in time to meet their tight deadlines.
